Here’s the Swoon-Worthy First Trailer (and Release Date!) for Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield’s Sweeping New Love Story

At the 2023 Oscars, Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield set the internet alight when they arrived on stage together to present the best-original-screenplay and best-adapted-screenplay prizes (to Everything Everywhere All at Once’s the Daniels and Women Talking’s Sarah Polley, respectively). Their chemistry was evident as they announced the nominees, and as clips and backstage photos began to surface—of them whispering to each other during the acceptance speeches and stealing admiring glances—there was a deluge of tweets demanding that the two former Academy Award nominees collaborate on a project.

Just two days later, those prayers were answered: Deadline confirmed that the pair were in negotiations to co-star in We Live in Time, a romantic drama from the BAFTA-winning director of Brooklyn, John Crowley. Alongside him, Benedict Cumberbatch would be among the film’s executive producers and The Last Letter From Your Lover’s Nick Payne would be penning the script.

Now, almost a year and a half later, a charming first still has been released, as well as the official log line: “Almut (Florence Pugh) and Tobias (Andrew Garfield) are brought together in a surprise encounter that changes their lives. Through snapshots of their life together – falling for each other, building a home, becoming a family – a difficult truth is revealed that rocks its foundation. As they embark on a path challenged by the limits of time, they learn to cherish each moment of the unconventional route their love story has taken, in filmmaker John Crowley’s decade-spanning, deeply moving romance.”

Watch the first full trailer below—and look out for the film in limited theaters from October 11, 2024.
