Dame Helen Mirren has shared one of her travel beauty must-haves and it’s a British-made skincare product you can buy from Amazon.
The veteran actress, 77, recently shared the contents inside her beauty bag, including a £13.50 “jar of magic” that she uses to treat any of her skin emergencies.
She took out a brown glass container and told Harper’s Bazaar: “This is very interesting and I do like to travel with this because when you are travelling, all sorts of things can happen to your skin. You can get a rash or something can go wrong.
“This is called Active Silver and it’s like a silver colloidal, it’s sort of gel. A little dab of that if you have a rash or dry patch, this stuff just magically, sort of, resolves it. So this is called Active Silver and I do recommend that.”
A 30ml jar of Active Silver is available to buy on Amazon for £13.49 while a bigger 100ml size is priced at £27.99.
The quick and effective Magic Gel is said to have antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties, and it can be used as a rapid-acting and soothing moisturiser; or as Mirren said, a first aid essential if something happens to your skin.
Other than 25ppm of Colloidal Silver, the soothing aloe vera and skin-loving vitamin E are suitable to treat burns, cuts, sunburn and skin rashes. Active Silver mentioned they produce the colloidal in small batches at their own purpose-built laboratory.
The formula is non-sticky and absorbs fast, and it has been rated as a “miracle balm” by Amazon reviewers. One penned: “I burnt myself badly on my chest and I applied this throughout the day and over night every day and within a week, the burn had healed. Now it’s hardly visible, absolutely incredible stuff!”
“It goes on easily and you don’t need a lot,” a second customer shared. “I recently bashed my elbow on the corner of my table which was ver painful and turned red immediately. I applied some of the Magic Gel and next morning, I expected a huge bruise but there wasn’t one. Over the next few days, I applied it three to four times a day and it sorted it really well, barely a mark!”
But one left a three-star review and said: “Nothing wrong with this gel but it didn’t do it for me. I haven’t been using it long enough to form a fair evaluation.”
One woman called the Active Silver Magic Gel the “best colloidal silver ever used” and said she had cured several issues with it including heat rash, which disappeared minutes after applying; banishing a pimple within two days instead of a week; cleaning up the flaky skin on her forehead in two days and getting rid of itchiness caused by moisquito bites in three minutes.
If you’re looking for an alternative, Omorovicza’s Silver Skin Saviour is a mask treatment for blemish-prone skin, with colloidal silver, niacinamide and BHA. The £74 product provides a potent blend that combats blemishes and breakouts.
