Gunman on the run after shooting attack at Sydney Olympic Park, Homebush

A gunman is on the run following a shooting attack in Western Sydney, just minutes from where young fans are camped out ahead of pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo’s Friday night show.

A 29-year-old man was shot in the arm at Figtree Dr near Sydney Olympic Park just before 3am Friday.

Emergency services were called to an apartment complex, where they treated the 29-year-old before taking him to hospital.

The shooting unfolded just 1km from Qudos Bank Arena, where many Rodrigo fans spent the night camped out for the star’s second sold-out Sydney show.

Shortly after, a car was found set alight just 3km away at Dalley St in Lidcombe.

Emergency crews extinguished the blaze, which will now be forensically examined.

“Police believe the incident was targeted and inquiries are continuing to establish if the incidents are linked,” police said.

Investigations continue.
