GTA 6 release date gets green light, but there’s bad news Xbox fans | Gaming | Entertainment

After recently confirming that the GTA 6 release date won’t be affected by the SAG-AFTRA voice actor strikes, there’s more good news for Grand Theft Auto fans. In a recent earnings call, Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two shed light on the launch plans for GTA 6. With fans worried that the game will be delayed until 2026, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told investors that the upcoming open-world crime game is still on track for an autumn 2025 release date. “The Grand Theft Auto series exceeded our expectations, as momentum continues to build ahead of the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI in Fall 2025,” reads a Take-Two statement. Unfortunately, however, it’s not all good news, especially for Grand Theft Auto fans on Xbox.

With Call of Duty Black Ops 6 coming to Game Pass on day-one, Zelnick was asked whether consumer habits will change and how it will affect Take-Two’s plans going forward.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.Biz, Zelnick said that day-one releases will only have a short-term benefit for subscription services.

“I think that offering a frontline title with a premium price in a subscription service, day and date, will push consumers to that subscription service for at least a period of time,” Zelnick said.

Needless to say, Zelnick and Take-Two have absolutely no plans to change its mind about GTA 6 possibly coming to subscription services at launch.

“No, it won’t affect our decisions,” Zelnick continued. “Because our decisions are rational.”

Ouch!

Grand Theft Auto 6 takes place in the state of Leonida, which is based on Florida.

Rockstar explains: “Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”

The trailer gives fans a look some of the map locations as seen from the skies above. This includes locations based on the Florida Keys, as well as the beach and more.

Hopefully we’ll get a better look at the locations, as well as some gameplay in the next GTA 6 trailer, which is rumoured to drop on October 4.
