Grimes Claims Musk Custody Fight Stopped Her From Seeing Child

Grimes is claiming her custody battle with her ex Elon Musk kept her from seeing one of their three children for months on end.

The singer, real name Claire Boucher, opened up about her fight for custody of her children after a fan asked about her plans to release new music in a post on X, the Musk-owned social media platform formerly known as Twitter, last Wednesday.

Grimes told readers she recently “spent a year locked in battle in a state with terrible mothers rights having my instagram posts and modeling used as reasons I shouldn’t have my kids and fighting.”

Referring to her relationship with Musk, the “Genesis” singer said she’s also been “detaching from the love if my life as he comes unrecognizable to me, with a fraction of his resources (or iq/strategy experience).”

“All the while I didn’t see one of my babies for 5 months,” added the mother-of-three, who shares 4-year-old son X Æ A-Xii, and 2-year-old son Techno Mechanicus, as well as daughter Exa Dark Sideræl, 3, with the Tesla CEO.

Describing those details as just the tip of the iceberg, the Canadian electronic artist went on to say, “This is only what can be said publicly, since most of my experience these last years should remain behind closed doors.”

However, Grimes told fans she was “grateful for every bullet I caught.” She then added, “Cuz I feel on top of the world right now. And everything that used to give me anxiety feels like child’s play after all this.”

When asked why she didn’t just “go to court” to fight for custody and allow herself to keep making music, Grimes replied, “Because the threat of losing ur kids while going bankrupt fighting for them is not very conducive to creative thoughts.”

She added, “I just slept and cried every minute I wasn’t explicitly fighting for my kids during that year.”

Representatives for Musk did not immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment.

Grimes’ posts come following reports that her custody dispute with Musk was resolved by a Texas court in August.

Last Wednesday, the court clerk’s office in Travis County, Texas, told Business Insider a judge issued a final order regarding the children’s custody, and the legal challenge is now listed as “closed.” The office declined to provide any further details, however.

Grimes’ sons and daughter are among Musk’s 12 children. He quietly welcomed his youngest with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis sometime earlier this year.
