Grim discovery made in search for man last seen in Darlington Point, NSW

The body of a 62-year-old man who had not made contact with friends or family for more than a week has been found, with NSW Police confirming the worst on Friday.

The man was last seen in Darlington Point, in the central Riverina district of western New South Wales, on October 16.

Local police launched an extensive land and water search operation, with significant support from several emergency service agencies.

Sadly, it ended on Friday when a body was located.

“While the body has not yet been formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing man,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“Initial inquiries suggest the circumstances surrounding the man’s death are not suspicious.”

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

The grisly discovery was one of several made by police on Friday.

More bodies found

Also on Friday, the body of grandfather Edwin Dobbin was discovered during a day-long search of a property on Sydney’s northwestern fringes.

The 82-year-old had been missing for a month and was allegedly murdered by a man known to him.

Earlier, a woman believed to be in her 50s was found dead on a property at Gunnedah, in north-central NSW.

A 29-year-old man known to the woman was arrested at the scene on Henry St.
