Granddaughter says she watched her grandmother’s murder on Facebook after Hamas used her own phone to post video

A Hamas militant broke into the home of an Israeli grandmother and videoed her murder, before posting it directly to the woman’s own Facebook page, her heartbroken granddaughter claimed.

Mor Bayder took to Facebook to outline the horrific incident when she hadn’t heard from her grandmother, who normally wishes her good morning every day.

When Bayder logged onto Facebook and visited her grandmother’s page, she saw the graphic execution, describing it as “the nightmare of my life”.

Bayder then outlined what had happened in an emotional post.

She went on to pay tribute to her grandmother’s life, posting photographs of the two together.

Writing on her own Facebook page, she wrote: “The pillar of my life, in my family’s life. My grandmother, a resident of Kibbutz Nir Oz all her life, was (killed) yesterday in a brutal murder by a terrorist in her home.

“Seven in the morning, I saw the nightmare of my life. A terrorist came home to her, killed her, took her phone, filmed the horror and published it on her Facebook wall.”

Bayder then added, “This is how we found out. The purest thing in the world, the light of my life, my whole world, my grandmother, can’t make it real.

“This morning I didn’t get ‘My dear teacher, did you get up?’ like every morning when you were persistent not a minute after seven. My heart is shattered to pieces. Those who know me know what she is to me, what a connection we had, what a person she is, pure and good.

“My grandmother loved life but how do we go on without you? Who am I without you? I’m not willing to talk about you in the past, it’s a nightmare of my life.

“I love you and you know it, in every room of my heart, in every particle of my body, in every fibre of my organ.

“My grandmother, my flower, the light of my life, my whole world.”

Hamas invaded Israel on Saturday and attacked areas close to the Gaza border in unprecedented scenes. Hundreds have died, and dozens more are believed to have been kidnapped. In retaliation, Israel responded with a series of deadly airstrikes.

Hamas has warned it will kill an Israeli hostage every time Israel’s military bombs civilian targets in the Gaza Strip.

Abu Obeida, the spokesman of the Qassam Brigades, said in an audio released Monday night that the threat was a response to intense air strikes by Israel on civilian areas.

“We have decided to put an end to this and as of now, we declare that any targeting of our people in their homes without prior warning will be regrettably faced with the execution of one of the hostages of civilians we are holding,” he said.

In a video statement Monday, Israel’s foreign minister warned Hamas against harming any of the hostages who were taken from Israel and being held in Gaza.

“We demand Hamas not to harm any of the hostages,” Cohen said.

“This war crime will not be forgiven,” he added.
