The main Ghostbusters series gets its long-awaited fourth film in a couple of months, three years on from Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire takes the action back to New York City with Paul Rudd’s Gary and the late Egon Spengler’s daughter and grandchildren teaming up with the original crew.
Having cameoed at the end of the last movie, it looks like Bill Murray’s Venkman, Dan Aykroyd’s Ray and Ernie Hudson’s Winston will get a lot more to do in this adventure, as will other stars from the 1980s films.
In Frozen Empire’s new trailer, we see the return of Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz, the Ghostbusters’ secretary.
Meanwhile, William Atherton is reprising his Environmental Protection Agency inspector Walter Peck 40 years after the first movie and even that terrifying library ghost is back.
The film’s official synopsis reads: “In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.”
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire hits cinemas on March 22, 2024.
