The world is beginning to turn its gaze towards Paris. There are the spring 2025 collections—which Pharrell Williams kicked off last night—Vogue World: Paris, next week’s haute couture presentations, and the imminence of the 2024 Olympics. And so Williams’s decision to stage his spring 2025 Louis Vuitton men’s presentation at the UNESCO headquarters—which is the seat of a United Nations organization tasked with promoting international peace—was an auspicious choice of venue.
The map of the world itself was printed on enamel buttons; football shirts featured in an array of international tricolors; and a smattering of field jackets, suits, and bombers were rendered in a blue, green, and black check that was based on a pattern used in luggage created for Air Afrique, the pan-continental airline that operated from the ’60s until 2002. The designer’s own gravitational pull managed to attract a constellation of stars, too. Among them: Sabrina Carpenter, Stormzy, Jackson Wang and Tems.
