Four charged in theft of high-end vehicles pegged at $800K

Four Greater Toronto Area men — including two who were out on release orders for previous auto-theft charges — face charges for high-end vehicle thefts.

Peel Regional Police executed a search warrant at an Oakville home on June 18 after an alleged theft on June 3.

Police said the alleged theft happened at 4:54 a.m. Multiple suspects went to an auto retail business in Brampton and allegedly stole several high-end vehicles. The thieves used a large pickup truck, crashed through the barriers and fled with 10 vehicles worth a combined $800,000.

Within days, investigators said the Peel Regional Police commercial auto crime bureau located eight of the stolen vehicles throughout the GTA. Further investigation revealed that vehicles were allegedly being exported overseas through a Mississauga shipping location.

The June 18 search warrant allegedly resulted in police finding evidence related to the investigation, including fraudulent government identification, automobile keys, and items to assist with the theft of motor vehicles.

Four suspects were subsequently identified and arrested.

Teshawn Tulloch, 30, of Oakville, is charged with possession of stolen property, trafficking in stolen property, conspiracy to commit and indictable offence, possession of counterfeit mark, possession of automobile master key, and breach of probation.

Tyrel Morgan, 29, of Brampton, is charged with possession of automobile master key.

Muhammad Fayaz, 40, of Markham, is charged with three counts each of possession of property obtained by crime and trafficking in stolen goods over $5,000, and fail to comply with undertaking.

Fayaz was already on a release order for auto theft-related charges at the time of offence.

Mohammad Siddiqui, 41, of no fixed address, is charged with possession of property obtained by crime, three counts of trafficking in stolen goods over $5,000, and fail to comply with undertaking.

CAMBRIDGE MAN CHARGED WITH CHILD LURING

A 57-year-old Cambridge man faces charges for child luring.

In a news release issued Friday, Halton Regional Police said its Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) started an online investigation on June 10 using several media platforms.

As a result of this investigation, a suspect was identified and arrested on Thursday.

Thomas Jacobs is charged on with nine counts each of luring and making sexually explicit material available to child, and three counts each of indecent exposure to a person under 16 years of age and making child pornography.

The accused was also the subject of similar investigations with Chatham-Kent Police and Niagara Regional Police, which contributed to the criminal charges.

Investigators are concerned about the possibility of other alleged victims.

Police claim the accused used several social media applications and used the name “Canada Tom.”

PEEL COP CHARGED

A Peel Regional Police officer has been charged following an investigation by Ontario’s police watchdog.

The Special Investigations Unit was brought in following an arrest of a 33-year-old man in Brampton on June 21, 2023.

As a result of the investigation, Const. Karanveer Singh was charged with one count of assault.

The SIU is a civilian agency that investigates when police are involved in an incident that results in death, serious injury, sexual assault, and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person.

MAN ACCUSED OF HATE-MOTIVATED MISCHIEF IN HAMILTON

A man is sought for suspected hate-motivated mischief in east-end Hamilton.

Hamilton Police said businesses in the area are encouraged to review any surveillance footage available to them after cops responded on June 21 to the King St. E.-Cochrane Rd. area for a report of hate-related graffiti on the side of a business.

The suspect is described as a white man, about 30-40 years old, with brown hair and a thin build. He was wearing a black hat, black pants, black sweater with a white stripe, and red and black shoes.

Area residents are requested to check and review their security cameras for any suspicious activity involving a person fitting the provided description between 1:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m.

COPS PROBE SHOTS FIRED IN MARKHAM

A man is sought after shots were fired at a home in Markham early Friday.

York Regional Police said officers responded to a home in the Featherstone Ave.-Highglen Ave. area for the sound of gunshots.

Officers arrived to find a home that had been struck by multiple bullets.

No injuries were reported.

Video surveillance from the area showed a white, four-door sedan driving slowly in the area moments before the shooting. A suspect was seen approaching on foot and discharging a firearm at the targeted residence.

Cops said the shooter returned to the vehicle and left the area.

Police are reminding area residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police.

TWO CHARGED FOR OSHAWA FRAUD

Two men have been arrested and charged for fraud as part of an alleged door-to-door scam in Oshawa.

The victim previously purchased several energy-related systems including a heat pump, air purifying system and tankless water heater from a door-to-door salesperson who claimed they would receive green rebates from the government in return.

Police said the victim spent more than $50,000 upgrading these appliances and never received any rebates.

The accused went to the victim’s home and claimed they would pay off the victim’s outstanding debt for an additional $11,000 and would return later that evening with the paperwork. When the suspects returned, police went to the residence and took both of the accused into custody without incident.

Two suspects were subsequently identified and arrested.

Isaak Estefan Garcia, 20, of Ottawa, and Mustafa Zeidan, 26, of Quebec, are charged with attempted fraud over $5,000.

Police are concerned about the possibility of other alleged victims.
