Towards the end of 2023, Epic Games launched the short-lived Fortnite OG season, which reintroduced classic points of interest, weapons and items from past chapters. The event was massively popular, attracting millions of players and setting all kinds of records. We knew it wouldn’t be long until Epic Games decided to take things back to the old-school once again, although few would have expected Fortnite OG Reload to drop this weekend. Indeed, in a surprise announcement, Epic Games has confirmed plans to update Fortnite for PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Android on the morning of Saturday, June 22.
Fortnite Reload will launch as part of update 30.20, which has a June 22 release date and a 6am BST UK launch time.
Of course, while the update will be available to download from 6am, server downtime means you won’t actually be able to play the new game mode until maintenance ends at around 9/10am BST.
Fortnite developer Epic Games has given fans a taste of what to expect in a recent post on social media.
The post reads: “Skies of rifts. Countless reboots. It’s time to Reload.”
A teaser trailer has also confirmed which points of interest will return as part of the new game mode.
Locations returning from Chapter 1 include Tilted Towers, Pleasant Park, Retail Row, Lil’ Loot Lake, Sandy Sheets and Lazy Laps.
Speaking of trailers, Fortnite Reload will be revealed in full at 5am BST UK time on June 22. You can watch the trailer by clicking play on the YouTube embed above.
The update is also expected to add Magneto to the Battle Pass, as well as Pirates of the Caribbean skins to the item shop.
Epic Games will likely lay the foundations for the next summer event, which should take place in the coming weeks.
Expect new summer-themed items, challenges, rewards and skins, which Daily Express will keep you updated on during downtime.
