UPDATE: Fortnite developer Epic Games has cancelled ME FNCS that have already been played, following a server issue that has disabled matchmaking. The news was announced by Epic Games on X: “Any ME FNCS matches that have already been played will be canceled. The matches will resume at 19:45 GST.”
ORIGINAL: Just 24-hours after the release of the latest update, Fortnite is experiencing additional server issues. The unexpected Fortnite downtime is affecting matchmaking on PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Android and Nintendo Switch. Players attempting to login to Fortnite Battle Royale and other game modes are being hit with a message about supervised settings failing to download. Fortnite developer Epic Games has acknowledged the matchmaking issues on X (formerly Twitter), telling fans that it is investigating the problem and will provide an update when the issue is resolved.
“We are investigating an error preventing logins,” reads an Epic tweet. “An update will be provided as soon as we resolve the issue.”
Epic Games followed the initial tweet with a second post explaining how matchmaking is also a problem
“Players will find matchmaking in Fortnite may also be experiencing issues,” reads a follow-up post.
Unfortunately, the supervised settings issue has had a knock on effect, with various cup competitions being delayed.
“Due to an issue, we’ll be delaying FNCS ME and other ME cups by 30 minutes.”
The problem has been picked up by websites like Down Detector, which monitors online services and reports when they’re offline.
Down Detector has thousands of reports confirming the Fortnite outage, which appears to be a global issue.
Daily Express will update this article with the latest server updates and developments, so keep checking back for more information.
The outage appears just 24-hours after Epic Games added new Metallica content to Fortnite.
This includes the launch of a new guitar item, which is dubbed Ride the Lightning. Available in chests, the item will give players the ability to create a huge lightning arc that can be used to traverse the map and damage enemies.
That’s on top of a new Loot Island POI, which appears midway through the match. This island will contain a stage featuring holographic versions of the band.
Metallica have also appeared in the item shop, as well as in LEGO Fortnite. Even Rocket Racing has added new Metallica content to the game.
