Fortnite down – Server status and downtime schedule for update 29.01 | Gaming | Entertainment

Fortnite will be taken offline for server maintenance as part of the release of update 29.01. Coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Android and PC, update 29.01 will be available to download on the morning of March 19. It will be accompanied by a period of server downtime, which means you won’t be able to play Fortnite (not to mention LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival) for at least a couple of hours. If you want to know when you can log back into Fortnite, check out the 29.01 server downtime schedule below.

The news was announced by Epic Games on X (formerly Twitter), alongside details on when servers will be taken offline for maintenance.

“Downtime for v29.01 starts at 4:00 AM ET with matchmaking disabled a few minutes prior,” reads an Epic tweet.

For UK fans, this means that Fortnite will be taken offline in full at 9am GMT, while matchmaking will be disabled at 8.30am.

Epic hasn’t revealed exactly when downtime will come to an end, but maintenance typically lasts for around a couple of hours.

This means Fortnite, LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival should all be back online by 11am GMT UK time at the latest.

In terms of what fans can expect, Epic is remaining tight-lipped about the new content.

However, according to Fortnite insider Shiina, update 29.01 is likely to introduce a new Midas event, plus the return of the Floor is Lava LTM.

The Drum Gun is also expected to be unvaulted, while the Chain of Hades ability could join the game.

Needless to say, the new update will also introduce a selection of new skins, not to mention some potential new crossovers.
