Fortnite developer Epic Games has taken the game offline for server maintenance. The latest period of server downtime coincides with the release of update 31.20, which is only the second major patch of the season. Coming to PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android and PC, update 31.20 will be available to download on the morning of September 17. You can check out the Fortnite update 31.20 server maintenance schedule below.

The news was announced by Epic Games on X, alongside a preview about what fans can expect.

“Day of Doom is approaching!” reads an Epic tweet. “Downtime for v31.20 begins at 4 AM ET with matchmaking ending shortly beforehand.”

For fans playing in the UK, this means that Fortnite will be taken offline in full at around 9am BST.

Epic hasn’t revealed exactly when downtime will come to an end, but maintenance tends to last for at least a couple of hours.

This means Fortnite and all companion game modes should be back online by 11am BST UK time, although there’s a chance it could be even later.

As for the new update, you can check out all of the new additions below.

The headline new feature is the launch of a new Marvel-themed limited-time game mode featuring Marvel heroes and villains.

Fortnite’s Day of Doom LTM sees upwards of 32 players duke it out in the ultimate battle between good and evil.

Doom’s Henchmen are tasked with collecting six Arcane Artefacts, which will prevent the opposition from respawning. Eliminate the remaining Avengers and the villains will emerge victorious.

The Allies of the Avengers, on the other hand, must eliminate Doom’s forces before they collect the Artefacts.

Elswhere, Epic Games has announced plans to release the new MCU Iron Man skin and items. The Iron Man goodies will be available from the item shop on September 17, most likely once the update goes live.
