Fortnite DOWN for server maintenance – How long is Fortnite offline for update 30.40 | Gaming | Entertainment

Epic Games has announced plans to take Fortnite offline for server maintenance as part of the release of update 30.40. Coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android and PC, update 30.40 will be available to download on the morning of August 6. Potentially the last big update of the current season, the latest patch will be accompanied by an extensive period of server downtime, which means you won’t be able to play Fortnite (not to mention LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival) for at least a couple of hours. If you want to know when you can log back into Fortnite, check out the 30.40 server maintenance schedule below.

The news was announced in a tweet by Epic Games on X, including exactly when Fortnite will be taken offline, not to mention what fans can expect from the new update.

“Where we Fallin’?” reads an Epic Games tweet. “Downtime for v30.40 begins at 4 AM ET with matchmaking ending shortly beforehand.”

For UK fans, this means that Fortnite will be taken offline in full at 9am BST, while matchmaking will be disabled at 8.30am UK time.

Epic hasn’t revealed exactly when downtime will come to an end, but maintenance typically lasts for 2-3 hours.

This means Fortnite and all companion game modes should be back online from 11am BST UK time.

On the plus side, the downtime will be accompanied by a new update, which can be downloaded while servers are offline.

Indeed, you’ll need to download and install the update in order to successfully log into Fortnite’s various game modes.

As you can see from the brief teaser trailer above, the next update will feature new Fall Guys content.

According to previous leaks, this is likely to include an obstacle course within the Battle Royale map.

Epic Games is likely to add files related to a possible end of season event, as well as hints about Season 4, including some sort of countdown.

The Minigun is also rumoured to be making a return, alongside the usual array of new item shop skins and lots more.

That’s on top of various bug fixes and gameplay updates, including new content for LEGO Fortnite, such as additional skins.
