The 30-year-old has been somewhat of a forgotten player for the Power in recent times.
He has managed just one senior game in the past two seasons, and that came way back in Round 3, 2023.
The Power added defenders Esava Ratugolea and Brandon Zerk-Thatcher in last year’s trade period, which pushed Clurey further down the pecking order.
Before the club officially announced Clurey’s departure, 7NEWS Adelaide reporter Josh Money revealed it was an “amicable” split.
“Understand Port Adelaide defender Tom Clurey will be released from his contract with a year remaining on his deal,” Money tweeted.
“Amicable situation. 30yo still feels he has plenty to give and knows that’s unlikely to happen at Alberton.”
Clurey was a regular feature for port Adelaide between 2017-2020, playing 81 games including three finals.
In 2019, he inked a four-year contract extension and added another two years in 2022 to take him through until the end of next year.
He has played 124 AFL games and is now free to sign anywhere as a delisted free agent.
“I’ve loved my time at Port Adelaide but now it’s time to move on and see what other opportunities exist for me to extend my AFL career,” Clurey said.
“Over the last 12 months, the club has moved in a different direction with its defensive structure and personnel. Whilst I understand this, I still feel as though I have more to offer.
“Like I said, I’ve had a great journey and made some lifelong friends. I want to thank all my teammates over the years, my coaches, the staff and all the volunteers that contribute so much and who have supported in my time here at Port Adelaide.”
Narkle, who played 37 games at Geelong before being picked up by the Power as a mid-season rookie in 2023, in reportedly set to train with Fremantle.
The five departures follow the retirements of Charlie Dixon and Trent McKenzie, and the earlier delisting of Tom McCallum.
The Power also traded out Dan Houston during a busy trade period that saw them bring in Jack Lukosius, Joe Richards and Rory Atkins during a busy
