A large fire broken out in an industrial estate on Sydney’s northern beaches, prompting firefighters to issue a smoke warning to nearby residents.
Flames engulfed a tyre and mechanical workshop in Brookvale, creating thick, black smoke, Fire and Rescue NSW said.

More than 50 firefighters and 16 fire engines were sent to the blaze which broke out in a row of brick and iron factory units in Old Pittwater Rd about 6.45pm on Monday.
“Several cars have been damaged by the fire and falling debris,” Fire and Rescue NSW said in a statement.
Firefighters managed to save a number of other vehicles and set up a defensive perimeter.
Local residents were urged to stay indoors and shut any windows if they were at risk of being affected by smoke.
There have been no reports of injuries and the cause of the fire remains unclear.
