Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth may have a February 29 release date, but fans will be able to play early thanks to a PS5 exclusive demo. Sony and Square Enix plan to showcase Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth during a State of Play event taking place on February 6 at 11.30pm GMT UK time. Featuring a look at the open-world gameplay, new locations, characters and mini-games, fans can watch the FF7 Rebirth State of Play live by clicking play on the YouTube embed below. To coincide with the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth broadcast, Square Enix will reportedly release a PlayStation 5-exclusive demo, which is expected to go live after the State of Play event comes to an end.
With the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth State of Play running for approximately 20 minutes, the demo should be ready to download just before midnight on February 6.
According to a leaked trailer, the demo will give fans the opportunity to play as Cloud or Sephiroth during the Nibelheim episode (via Wario64).
Judging by the footage, the demo will give fans a taste of the combat system, while also providing a small sample of the game world.
The free demo will be available to everybody with a PS5, regardless of pre-order status. Speaking of pre-orders, you can save money on a physical copy of the game by checking out the links below.
Pre-ordering the game from Amazon unlocks the Shinra Bangle in-game accessory, as well as the Midgar Bangle.
The second part of the remake trilogy, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth shifts the action away from Midgar and into the wider world.
Square Enix explains more: “After escaping from the dystopian city of Midgar, Cloud and his friends set out on a journey across the planet.
“New adventures await in a vibrant and vast world – sprint across grassy plains on a Chocobo and explore expansive environments.”
Judging by previous trailers, fans will be able to check out the Golden Saucer theme park, which features a host of mini-games.
FF7 Rebirth also adds various modes of transportation, including the aforementioned Chocobos.
