Love Actually, has been crowed the best feel-good film of all time a new poll reveals. The Richard Curtis classic was followed by Shawshank Redemption and Mamma Mia!

The 2003 romcom follows eight interlinked couples navigating their love lives in the month leading up to Christmas, and it’s a film many revisit year after year.

The research of 2,000 film fans was commissioned by Ferrero Rocher, to mark the launch of its Get Wrapped Up in the Movies campaign which offers a winner and three friends the ultimate movie night experience at an exclusive venue.

Emma Armer from the chocolate company said: “Our research shows that nearly a third of people watch feel-good films to spend quality time with their loved ones. We want everyone to enjoy getting wrapped up in movie nights.”

When asked for the top reasons why the nation loves this particular genre of film, 84% feel it improves their wellbeing.

More than one third (38%) watch feel-good movies with a happy outcome to lift their spirits, and 30% tune in to them to spend quality time with loved ones.

Over three quarters of respondents (76%) revealed feel-good films always lift their spirits when the weather starts to get colder.

And (61%) of those polled via OnePoll.com said chocolate was one of their top three favourite movie snacks to get wrapped up in these feel-good moments.
