From his hospital bed, he revealed to 7NEWS that he thought “I will die”.

“And then I’m thinking for the kids, I’m thinking for family,” he said.

His wife Sajedeh Mohsni screamed for the driver to stop.

“I just run, run, run to tell him ‘please stop. Stop. Don’t kill him. Stop’,” she said.

Saidawi managed to roll free but the impact ripped the jeans off his body.

“I just see my husband… coming out. I don’t know if (he’s dead or not),” Mohsni said.

Saidawi is currently in hospital where he is being treated for serious leg injuries.

“I can’t walk. I can’t (sit). I can’t do anything because both legs (are in) very bad pain,” he said.
