Finding diet-friendly foods can be a challenge when you’re trying to shed the pounds. However, one weight loss guru has simplified the process by revealing five foods that “have almost zero calories” in a recent video.
Fitness coach Thomas Whitehead, known as @thomasjwhitehead on Instagram, regularly imparts his fitness, lifestyle and diet wisdom to his 29,600 followers. His latest post about low-calorie food was a hit with his audience.
The fitness aficionado began the video by announcing: “Here are the five foods with almost zero calories,” as he strolled through a supermarket. He suggested that this knowledge could help followers “get in shape before Christmas “.
His first tip wasn’t actually a food but a drink ingredient – caffeine. Thomas revealed: “Not many people know this, but caffeine’s the number one ingredient in 90% of fat burners, due to it being an appetite suppressant.”
His second suggestion was something you could eat – white fish, reports Surrey Live.
“It’s one of the leanest proteins out there because per 100 grams, it’s only 85 calories and you get 20.2 grams of protein.”
Third on Thomas’ list was “pretty much any green leafy vegetable”. He advised: “If you want a little cheat code to make fat loss easier, literally take as much green veg as possible and pile it on your plate with your other foods.”
For those who aren’t fans of vegetables, Thomas had some straightforward advice: “Just grow the f**k up.”
Thomas shared what he considers one of the “cleanest proteins out there” – egg whites. Explaining the benefits, he mentioned: “I’m not saying don’t eat whole eggs again, but if you top these up with your normal eggs… game-changer.”
He pointed out that per 100 grams, egg whites contain only 48 calories and almost 11 grams of protein.
To finish off his list, Thomas recommended fresh berries to satisfy those sugary urges, adding that they are packed with natural sugars, low in calories and will “sort you out”. His followers were quick to express their appreciation for these healthful insights.
One fan called them “good hacks”, while another commended him by saying: “You talk sense.”
