The family of a father killed in a motorbike crash in Townsville is appealing for support to bring his body home to NSW.

His family are now crowdfunding to bring his body home to the NSW Mid-North Coast so he can be laid to rest.

“He was a seriously funny, loveable country boy,” Mackenzie’s former partner Chelsea Riley told 7NEWS.com.au.

“He was such a loving dad, it came so effortlessly to him — his kids were always happy when they were with their dad.”

Mackenzie and Riley have a five-year-old son and three-year-old daughter, who are yet to be told their dad has died.

“They still don’t know about Tyson’s passing, that is a conversation I will have with them when Tyson is home where he belongs,” Riley said.

“We just need to do this one last thing for him, and for us.”

Mackenzie also has a five-year-old daughter with a previous partner in Tamworth.

Mackenzie’s sister Maddie Mackenzie, who he was visiting, posted an emotional tribute and video which was shared with permission with 7NEWS.

The video shows moments of Mackenzie’s life from childhood until he had his own children.

“I have no words my baby brother, I’ll forever love you,” she said.

A GoFundMe has been created to raise funds to “help Tyson make his final trip home”.

“(There is) a long list of people who were blessed to know and love him,” family friend Ashleigh King said.

“He was a larger-than-life, witty, charming man with a heart of solid gold.

“Whenever Tyson did anything, he did it without hesitation and he gave his love in the same way.

“No matter how hard or bad things got, he would stay strong for his babies. They were the reason he breathed.

“Tyson just wanted to go home to his babies.”
