The No. 3 Texas Longhorns walked into Ann Arbor and absolutely owned The Big House on Saturday afternoon.
The 31-12 drubbing of defending national champion No. 10 Michigan had college football pundits solidly behind Texas as a title contender in 2024.
Ex-Longhorn running back Bijan Robinson, now with the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons, concurred and posted on X during the game to take a jab at Michigan’s on-field woes.
The Wolverines couldn’t seem to get anything going on offense — turning the ball over three times and finding the end zone only once — while the defense just could not stop the onslaught from the Longhorns.
Saturday’s top-10 face off was the second all-time meeting between Texas and Michigan. The Longhorns prevailed 38-37 in a thrilling Rose Bowl in 2005.
In 2023, Texas fell short of its national championship aspirations in the College Football Playoff semifinals and missed out at an opportunity to face Michigan in the title game.
Now having gotten their pseudo-revenge, the Longhorns can look forward to taking a shot at the SEC crown — they joined the prestigious conference this year — and aim for a berth in the expanded playoff this year.
