Erin Molan ‘naked’ dress photo sparks furious debate

Radio host Erin Molan has hit back after receiving backlash over a dress she proudly posed in on Instagram.

The 41-year-old took to Instagram on Sunday, sharing a photo in what some have called a “naked” black sheer dress.

The asymmetric dress left little to the imagination, with many of her 185,000 followers divided in their reaction to the dress.

Meanwhile, others were more critical of Molan’s jaw-dropping ensemble.

“Erin you do not need a dress like this. You are a beautiful woman,” one commenter wrote.

“You’re better than this Erin,” another wrote.

“You’re such a stunningly beautiful woman 🔥🔥 you don’t need to wear an outfit like this. You’re way too classy ❤️❤️,” agreed another.

“Why not just post a naked pic? Jeezuz,” one particularly harsh comment read.

On Monday, Molan addressed the negative feedback with radio co-host Dave “Hughsey” Hughes.

“Why does what I wear or a dress that I wear in any way, let someone else down or detract from the kind of person I am?” she asked on her 2DAYFM radio show, Hughsey, Ed and Erin.

“If it’s people who like me because of the work I’ve done in the social media space or the anti-bullying or because of the charity work.”

Hughsey remarked that the “irony would be if they bully you because they respect your work in the anti-bullying space”.

Laughing, he stated that the only opinion that should matter to Molan is that of her “loved one”.

The host asked Molan what her boyfriend, whose identity has remained private, thinks about the post.

“Oh I knew you’d do this!” the mother-of-one laughed as she thought of her answer.

“You should have checked with me, you know exactly … OK he …”

“He didn’t like it?” Hughsey laughed.

Molan shared that he told her that “you can see everything”.

“He’s quite conservative, he thinks that it’s beautiful, he thinks I’m beautiful, but he would much rather me wear a habit,” she said.

The post comes after Molan spoke out about how 50 is the new 30 after being called out on social media for trying to dress younger.

“There’s this whole, kind of, group now and I know that they’re celebrities and I know they’ve got help,” she began on her radio show.

“But sorry, being 50 now is like being 30, 20 to 50 years ago.

“Women look amazing. We are not old when we are 30, 40, 50, 60.”

She went on to reference Nicole Kidman, 56, Nicole Scherzinger, 45, and Jeff Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sánchez, 53.

“She’s wearing bikinis, she’s wearing cutouts, she’s wearing everything,” Molan said of Sánchez’s style.

“What about JLo!” she continued.

“I’m 39 and I get comments like, ‘Are you trying to look young?’”

“No sorry, I wear what I feel like, what I feel good in, what makes me feel amazing in a world that’s constantly trying to make all of us feel completely s*** about ourselves.

“So, wear what you want, do what you want, dress how you want.

“If you look amazing, great, if you look not so amazing, great.

“If you feel amazing, great. Who cares?”

She ended her message by encouraging listeners to “stop the judgement!”

“Who cares? Feel good, wear what you like, wear a little cut-out, midriff, thong if you want, when you’re 90, who cares!”
