Medical Condition and Sick Leave Requests
According to the Bangkok Post, May was diagnosed with an inflamed large intestine and had taken sick leave from September 5 to September 9, supported by a medical certificate. After four days of treatment in the hospital, she returned home but felt unwell and requested two additional days of sick leave.
On September 12, May asked her manager for another day off, explaining that her condition had worsened. However, her manager insisted she return to work and provide a new medical certificate, as she had already used many sick days. Concerned about her job security, May reported for work on September 13. Unfortunately, she collapsed just 20 minutes into her shift, according to a friend.
Emergency Surgery and Death
May was rushed back to the hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery. Despite medical efforts, she died the following day from necrotising enterocolitis.
