Though he’s still months away from possibly being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility, retired quarterback Eli Manning took to X on Monday to celebrate a recent accomplishment with a simple two-word message.
The retired four-time Pro Bowl and two-time Super Bowl MVP took advantage of a somewhat rare opportunity to bask in the glory of besting older brother Peyton Manning and father Archie Manning as well as nephew Arch Manning. The Texas redshirt freshman (grandson of Arch, son of former Ole Miss WR Cooper Manning and nephew of Eli and Peyton) made his first college start on Saturday, helping the Longhorns in a 51-3 defeat of Louisiana-Monroe.
With Archie in the College Football Hall of Fame (plus two Pro Bowls) and Peyton in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Eli has often been overshadowed by other members of the Manning football family.
Having a pair of championship rings from his Super Bowl triumphs over the New England Patriots, however, Eli matched his brother’s number of titles and did something that his father never accomplished. Eli also was the Super Bowl MVP in both of his championship wins, while Peyton was the MVP in one of his two title victories.
The 19-year-old Arch committed to Texas in June 2022 and appeared in two games last season, going 2-for-5 with 30 passing yards. While Saturday was his first start, he’s now played in three games in 2024 and completed 29-of-47 pass attempts for 576 passing yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions. Arch’s also added seven rushing attempts for 49 yards and two scores.
