Drivers waiting to snap up fuel for 99c per litre have formed a massive queue stretching hundreds of metres in Melbourne’s north.

Motorists were enticed to Metro Petroleum on Mahoneys Rd in Thomastown by the sale of a variety of cut-price fuels including unleaded petrol and diesel.

Huge numbers joined a long line ready to fill up, with cars snaking around the block, aerial shots from the 7NEWS helicopter showed.

It follows previous promotions offered by rewards club Dreams Come True (DCT) and Metro Petroleum.

“It’s just to help the everyday Aussies on day-to-day expenses and one of the number one inflation (pressures) is petrol prices,” DCT founder Jon Tsingolis said.

The deal was hugely popular when run at Punchbowl and Figtree in NSW last month.

When launching the promotion, DCT said the cheap petrol would be on offer at different service stations on the first Tuesday of every month, in sync with the Reserve Bank of Australia’s interest rate meetings.
