In his first solo appearance since Harris officially began her bid for the presidency after President Joe Biden dropped out, Emhoff was asked about Trump’s offensive against the probable Democratic nominee.
“You heard the vice president yesterday making the case against Donald Trump very clearly,” Emhoff continued, referring to a speech she made at her Wilmington, Delaware, campaign headquarters on Monday. “Laid out the case, directly and in a compelling fashion. But she also laid out a vision for the future. A vision where there’s freedom. Where we’re not having to talk about these issues of today in this post-Dobbs hellscape that Donald Trump created.”
He bashed Trump for fostering censorship and promised that his wife would continue to make a case for the criminally convicted candidate’s mishandling of COVID-19 and “inciting an insurrection.”
Emhoff noted how quickly Democrats coalesced behind Harris “because she’s talking about an America that we all have a place in … She’s gonna unite the country. She’s gonna earn this nomination. You see that happening and she’s gonna win this election.”
Harris, a former California senator and attorney general who reportedly has earned enough delegates already for the nomination, cleverly taunted her Republican rival at a rally Tuesday in Wisconsin.
“Predators who abused women. Fraudsters who ripped off consumers. Cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain. So hear me when I say, I know Donald Trump’s type,” she added.
