Donald Trump in Texas is a ‘powerful message’: Rick Perry

(NewsNation) — Former Texas Republican Governor Rick Perry says it’s good that former President Donald Trump is in Texas talking about immigration and crimes committed by those here illegally.

“He’s gonna round up these individuals. We’re gonna make sure that they get deported,” Perry, who also served as energy secretary in the Trump administration, told NewsNation’s “The Hill.” “It is out of control, and Donald Trump will put it back in control.”

At a rally in Austin on Friday, Trump highlighted the families of some victims of crimes committed by people in the U.S. illegally. Perry called that a “powerful message.”

“When you look at the bookends of Obama and Biden on each end of Donald Trump, that’s the reason Donald Trump’s going to win. Because people know that he is going to make real efforts and really stop this illegal crossing,” he said.

On a broader scale, Perry said he can’t wait for the second Trump term.

“We know his policies, and more importantly, we know the individuals that he will bring with him to put into all these places of government,” he said and cited a specific example.

“I can’t wait for the day that RFK Jr. is head of the FDA. You talk about putting all of those crazies at the FDA and Big Pharma on notice that we’re coming after you and coming after you hard. That’s the time of real discombobulation, the real breaking up of the government cabal that I think Americans are absolutely hungry for,” Perry said.

Perry spoke on a day that both Trump and Kamala Harris had events in the Lone Star State, which has voted Republican in the last 11 presidential races.

“I think this is a good place for Donald Trump. Kamala Harris? Probably wasting her time,” he said.
