Do You Own A Fisker? We’d Love To Hear From You

We’ve written a lot about Fisker recently, and none of it has been what an automaker’s public relations department would consider “positive coverage.” All signs point to bankruptcy being inevitable, as it no longer looks like any major automakers are interested in offering Fisker the lifeline it so desperately needs. And while plenty of digital ink has been spilled over the company itself, as well as founder Henrik Fisker, thousands of other people will also probably be negatively impacted by Fisker’s bankruptcy — the owners who believed in the Ocean enough to spend their money on one.

In hindsight, maybe buying a Fisker Ocean wasn’t the best financial decision, but we can’t say we really blame you if you did. While the Ocean has its awkward angles, so do we all. Overall, it’s a very good-looking SUV, though, that offers some really interesting features. Fisker also made the smart decision to have Magna Steyr manufacture the Ocean so it didn’t have to invest in building its own factory. It didn’t hurt that early reviews were pretty positive, too.

Now thousands of people own a car that will very likely be orphaned in a matter of months. Prices on new Oceans have been slashed, and there’s no telling whether owners will receive another software update before the lights finally go out at Fisker HQ. Even those who could comfortably afford to spend $70,000 on an Ocean One have to feel like they’re in a tough spot here.

If you’re a Fisker owner, we’d love to hear from you. Do you think you’ll just keep driving it as long as you can? Are you going to try to sell it even if you take a massive loss? Is there an area nearby where you can leave it in the hopes that it will be stolen overnight so you can get the insurance payout? Are you going to park it on Henrik Fisker’s front lawn and set it on fire? Were you prepared for this possibility going in and have already made your peace with the company out of business?

Whatever it is, let us know what’s going on down in the comments. And heck, while we’re at it, if you work for Fisker or owned one of the original Karmas, we’d love to hear from you too. You still hanging in there?
