Dem Lawmaker Trolls James Comer With His Own Words In Spicy Hearing Moment

Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) on Monday openly ridiculed House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer for his failed impeachment inquiry of Joe Biden, bringing a printout quote of the Kentucky Republican’s words to a hearing and asking for an autograph.

The committee met to examine the threat of “political warfare” on the U.S. by the Chinese Communist Party. Immediately before Moskowitz’s turn to speak, Comer had called on the group to find a “bipartisan solution.”

Moskowitz was unimpressed. First, he highlighted Comer’s hypocrisy on the subject, illustrating numerous instances where former President Donald Trump had praised the Chinese government.

Then, he explained why he wasn’t sold on Comer’s calls for bipartisanship.

“And look, I appreciate the kind words the chairman said about me on Newsmax the other day, calling me the court jester,” Moskowitz said, addressing Comer. “So thank you, my liege.”

“But he said something else that I think really sums up what this committee has done,” he continued. “The chairman went on and said, ‘My job was never to impeach.’”

He pulled out a cardboard printout of the quote for emphasis.

“Well, that is interesting,” the Democrat went on. “So for two years, almost two years, we have sat here, while we have run impeachment hearings, while we have had cameras, hundreds of interviews, millions of dollars to spend, and now the chairman finally says, ‘My job was never to impeach.’ He only says that because it didn’t work out.”

“I’m going to have my staff send this to your office,” he told Comer. “I would love for you to sign it.”

The Democrat said he planned to hang it in his office as a reminder of “what this committee was used for.”

“So I don’t want to hear about bipartisanship when they destroyed this committee over nonsense for two years. I yield back, gentlemen,” he concluded.

The impeachment inquiry wrapped up in August without surfacing any clear evidence of official wrongdoing by the president. Comer, who doggedly led the inquiry with House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), has insisted on several occasions “my job was never to impeach.”

Moskowitz routinely trolls Comer. The two developed a combative relationship during the lengthy impeachment investigation. During one particularly tense session last November, Comer called Moskowitz’s assertions “bullshit” and told him, “You look like Smurf.”
