Country music star Garth Brooks accused of sexual assault by makeup artist

(KTLA) — Garth Brooks, the country music superstar who gained fame in the 1990s with several hit songs, has been named in a lawsuit accusing him of raping a hair and makeup artist in 2019.

The lawsuit, according to CNN, mentions two specific incidents in which Brooks allegedly committed sexual assault and battery against the woman — one in a Los Angeles hotel room in May 2019 and another at his home the same year, when he allegedly “grabbed her hands and forced them” on his crotch.

The pair traveled to Los Angeles on a private jet, the suit states, where Brooks allegedly raped the unnamed woman, called “Jane Roe” in the suit.

“Usually there were others on Brooks’ private jet but this time, Ms. Roe and Brooks were the only two passengers,” the complaint states. “Once in Los Angeles at the hotel, Ms. Roe could not believe that Brooks had booked a hotel suite with one bedroom and she did not have a separate room.”

In a previous suit filed anonymously to stop Roe from publicly repeating the allegations, Brooks denied the allegations. That suit stated that the allegations came about after “John Doe,” now revealed to be Brooks, denied her requests for salaried employment and medical benefits.

“Defendant’s allegations are not true,” Brooks’ previous lawsuit states, according to CNN. “Defendant is well aware, however, of the substantial, irreparable damage such false allegations would do to Plaintiff’s well-earned reputation as a decent and caring person, along with the unavoidable damage to his family and the irreparable damage to his career and livelihood that would result if she made good on her threat to ‘publicly file’ her fabricated lawsuit.”

This is a developing story.
