The label says the cooked chicken pieces are “seasoned lightly” and are available for shoppers to “enjoy cold”.
In comparison, a 1.6kg pack of uncooked Coles RSPCA Approved Chicken Drumsticks costs $7.20 — meaning you are paying a 270 per cent premium to have the meat cooked.
Coles says the convenient new buy has been available since August, and is ideal for picnics or for when you need something ready-to-go.
Other items in the ready-to-eat chicken range include Coles Slow Cooked Pulled Chicken and Moira Mac Roasted Chicken Breast.
However it seems some social media users aren’t as sure.
The social media user who spotted the new buy posted the pic to the “Bad Food Porn” Reddit group,
The photo shared by the shopper showed that the meat had little colour on the skin, despite being “roasted”.
Another Reddit user was also not impressed.
“’Enjoy cold.’ Thanks, I hate it,” they said.
