Schiffer also posted another bikini shot showing her beautiful surroundings, plus a birthday chocolate cake and a room festooned with balloons and a “happy birthday” sign.
Fans couldn’t get over how incredible Schiffer looked, with celebrity fans including fellow model Linda Evangelista, singer Dua Lipa and celebrity stylist Arianne Phillips all wishing the model a happy day.
“Impressive for 53!” one follower gushed, to which another replied: “Impressive for 23!”
“You look so good! Happy birthday Queen!” wrote another.
“You’re just perfection! Adored you since 1990,” another long-time fan wrote.
“Is that how she looks now? Wow,” said one follower.
“Getting more beautiful with age,” said another.
Claudia Schiffer was part of the late 1980s and 1990s wave of “supermodels” that also included Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Elle Macpherson, Helena Christensen and Cindy Crawford.
Apart from a lucrative modelling career, Schiffer has also dabbled in acting, designed a dinnerware range, and had three children with her husband, English director Matthew Vaughn, to whom she has been married since 2002.
Over her long career she has appeared on more than 1000 magazine covers, often being likened to Brigitte Bardot after first appearing in a Guess campaign that catapulted her to worldwide recognition.
Over the years she modelled for every major international fashion brand, becoming the highly-paid “face” of Chanel and L’Oreal, to name just two of her lucrative contracts.
She branched out into acting in the mid-1990s, appearing in Richie Rich (1994), The Blackout (1997) and as Liam Neeson’s love interest in Love Actually (2003).
In a 2020 interview with Another Magazine, Schiffer gave some insight into how she keeps herself physically and mentally healthy.
“When I started to have kids, I tried to be as healthy as possible and by doing so I feel my best today in my body and in myself overall,” she said.
“I work out by doing something different every day from tennis or a yoga class, to a 15-minutes abs class online or walking on the treadmill for an hour while watching a movie.
“I love epsom salt baths, meditating using the Calm app and lighting up candles like Baies by Diptyque.
“I also tend to read a novel before going to sleep.”
