As a bonafide musical theater nerd, I feel qualified to declare that Sandy in Grease doesn’t have to be blonde. That said, because the most iconic portrayal of the role is that of the late, great Olivia Newton-John, it’s understandable if your Sandy Halloween costume incorporates a blonde wig. That said, I was still completely taken aback when I saw one of the world’s most iconic brunettes, Cindy Crawford, doing exactly that.
Over the weekend, Crawford attended the Halloween party thrown every year by Casamigos, the tequila brand co-owned by her husband, Rande Gerber. The couple had one of the most recognizable costumes at the bash, dressed as Sandy and Danny from Grease. But the supermodel wasn’t dressed as just any Sandy — she was dressed as end-of-the-movie, questionable-life-choices Sandy.
That, of course, means that Crawford was donning a voluminous, curly, golden blonde wig, just like the teased look Newton-John wore to sing “You’re the One That I Want.” The shoulder-length style is unlike anything we’ve seen on the modeling legend, but needless to say, she looked absolutely incredible, especially considering the accuracy of the whole get-up. The red lipstick, hoop earrings, black bodysuit, shiny pants, and leather jacket — it’s a perfect replica.
