Coldplay frontman Chris Martin gave Australia an unexpected farewell as he boarded a private jet to leave the country.
The British musician dropped to his knees on the tarmac and kissed the ground, appearing to farewell the country following eight successful concerts across Melbourne and Sydney.

Martin, 47, was seen at Sydney airport on Monday interacting with fans who gathered to farewell the singer.
He then headed towards his private jet to take him to New Zealand to commence the next leg of Coldplay’s world tour.
Just before climbing the jet’s stairs, he quickly dropped to the floor and kissed the tarmac before jumping back up and continuing towards the plane.
It’s unknown what the kiss meant for Martin — whether it was simply a loving gesture or if he was sad to be leaving the country.
The singer kept a low profile in a grey beanie, headphones, a white long-sleeved tee, track pants and Coldplay’s signature “LOVE” badge.
The UK band’s first Australian concert was in Melbourne on October 30 and their final Sydney show was Sunday, November 10.
It was the first time Coldplay toured in Melbourne and Sydney since 2016, despite a whirlwind trip for a show in Perth last year.
Perth missed out this time around.
But Martin revealed there was a good reason for the eight-year break between shows in Australia’s biggest cities.
“We haven’t been to Melbourne and Sydney and Brisbane for quite some time. I’m going to tell it, f*** it,” he told the crowd in Melbourne.
“The reason we haven’t played (here) for quite some time is, I made the mistake eight years ago.”
“I looked at the press, and a gentleman wrote an article saying that he lived next to the stadium, and he said we ruined his night.
“So I was like, ‘Oh s**t’.
“What I learned from that, is it’s OK if someone doesn’t like you.”
Martin has been praised for the quality of the shows and his regard for his fans.
One night he displayed the extent of his concern for the experience of fans by helping a little boy who was being crushed while attending the band’s second Sydney show.
The 47-year-old spotted the young boy struggling in the standing section of the crowd on Thursday night.
Pointing him out, Martin offered the young fan a better and safer spot to watch the band perform.
“You can sit right here, you don’t have to be squeezed,” he said.
“You don’t have to be squished by all these adults.”

The boy then appears to be lifted over a barrier separating the crowd from the runway leading off the main stage.
“Sit right there my little brother,” Martin said.
“Better?
“We’ll take care of you man.”
The heartwarming gesture was captured on video and posted to social media, with one racking up over 30,000 views on TikTok.
