Bryson Muir found 'safe and well,' parents in custody: Police

LOGANSPORT, Ind. (NewsNation) — The 14-year-old son of former NFL player Daniel Muir has been found “safe and well” more than two weeks after his reported disappearance, according to Indiana State Police (ISP).

Arrest warrants were issued Wednesday morning for Bryson Muir’s parents, Daniel T. Muir and Kristin Muir, who were taken into custody at the Cass County Jail, ISP said. Daniel Muir faces one count of obstruction of justice and one count of domestic battery. Kristin Muir faces one count of obstruction of justice.

A statewide Silver Alert was issued for Byson Muir after he was last seen leaving a family member’s residence with his mother in Ohio, according to authorities.

ISP said he has been released into the custody of the Cass County Department of Child Services.

SWAT and bomb squad sweep home

The teenager was found Wednesday around 6 a.m. on the Muir’s property located at 1740 W. US Highway 24 in Logansport, which is owned by the nonprofit religious group the Servant Leader’s Foundation, ISP said.

Three SWAT teams, detectives, K9 units and a bomb squad were prepared to search multiple buildings at the property, NewsNation affiliate WANE-TV reported.

No further details were released. ISP continues to ask anyone with information regarding the incident with Bryson Muir to call 911 or 800-382-0689.

Investigators had secured search warrants for the compound. Officials from the Logansport Police Department, Cass County Sheriff’s Office and Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department provided additional assistance.

Parents uncooperative during investigation: Police

Before Wednesday, Bryson Muir had not been seen since June 16 after leaving a family member’s residence with his mother in Ohio, according to authorities. The car driven by Kristen Muir was pulled over minutes later, but there was no sign of Bryson.

A statewide Silver Alert was issued in the search for the boy, who police believed was in “extreme danger.”

In Saturday’s press release, police remarked they were able to contact Bryson’s parents, despite their initial uncooperativeness, but have not yet been able to locate the missing teen.

A meeting between investigators, Bryson and his parents was scheduled for 12 p.m. Friday before the Muirs “backed out,” according to authorities.

Police released two photos of Bryson Muir, one of which shows a black right eye. ISP was requested by the local Department of Child Services to investigate allegations of domestic battery to Bryson “on or about June 18,” two days after he went missing.

Bryson’s grandmother, Cheryl Wright, had accused Daniel Muir of beating up his son, adding it was her Garfield Heights, Ohio, home, where the teen was last seen.

She told WTHR that her grandson had a swollen face, black eye and fat lip.
