Brisbane Lions young gun Kai Lohmann showed plenty of cheek during an amusing interview after his team’s epic preliminary final win on Saturday.
A bubbly Lohmann grabbed the microphone and was in a very excitable mood when he started talking to Channel 7’s star-studded commentators, including icon Bruce McAvaney and AFL greats Luke Hodge and Dale Thomas.

Lohmann has grabbed his opportunity with both hands this season, playing 25 games so far after managing just six last year.
And the 21-year-old had another strong game in the pulsating 10-point win over Geelong, kicking a goal and taking a spectacular mark.
“I’m buzzing right now. I will probably say something stupid. I’m gonna keep it PG but far out, that’s the best thing I’ve ever experienced,” he told Channel 7.
“I thought I cost us there late, missing a sitter (kick on goal). Practice during the week, Hodgey, what do you reckon?” he said as he nudged Hodge.
McAvaney then asked Lohmann about his big mark … and the youngster replied with a cheeky question to the legendary caller.
“It was alright, Bruce. What did you say? Did you get up and about?” he asked with a grin, while Thomas and Hodge chuckled in the background.
Bruce took a moment to think, but the consummate pro wasn’t flustered.
“It was special,” McAvaney said, choosing the word he is often associated with from his days as an AFL caller.
Thomas loved it.
“There is the highest praise you can have bestowed upon you,” Thomas said.
Later Lohmann watched a video of the big grab.
“Are you happy with it?” Thomas asked.
“It was alright,” was his frank assessment.
“The kick wasn’t very good after. I’ll review it through the week and hopefully (take) another next week.”
McAvaney said “I’m coming (to the game)” and the cheeky Lohmann flashed a grin at Bruce: ”That gets me up and about.”
Lohmann said when he was a youngster he loved playing attacking footy and taking high-flying marks.
“But since coming here I’ve had deficiencies in my defence and (fixing that) has really helped me with my forward (craft),” he said.
McAvaney also asked him about the week ahead.
“I haven’t really had time to think about it, Bruce,” he said.
“I’m sure I’ll lean on the older blokes, people like Josh Dunkley and Charlie Cameron …. even Hodgey, if that’s alright?
“We’ve got a lot of confidence now and hopefully we can keep that going through next week.”
Brisbane will head to Melbourne on Wednesday, a day earlier than they travelled last year.
They’ll have their main session in Melbourne on Thursday before the Captain’s Run and Grand Final Parade on Friday.
