AFL fans are singing the praises of a Brisbane Lions staff member for his role in the grand final medal presentation ceremony.
Brisbane’s head of academy Scott Pyle was stationed between the players and the dais during the ceremony, and didn’t let a single player pass by without giving them a firm reminder to shake the hand of the Auskicker who presented their medal.

History is littered with players who, in the blur of the euphoric moment on stage, accidentally snub the young child presenting their medal by forgetting to shake their hand.
It has become an inevitability almost as certain as the furious reaction to it thereafter.
Collingwood fan favourite Beau McCreery and Geelong superstar Tom Stewart are recent examples in the past two grand finals.
That’s why Pyle was there trying to make sure no player forgot what they had to do.
And it didn’t go unnoticed by footy fans watching at home.
“The Brisbane ‘SHAKE THE KIDS HANDS’ bloke deserves a medal,” one said.
“Absolutely loving the Brisbane Lions member of staff who, as he hands the caps to the players, is sternly reminding them to shake the kids hands,” another added.
“The Brisbane Lions staff member telling the players to shake the Auskicker’s hands deserves a premiership medal too. I applaud him for telling his players to give the children a handshake, that’s respect and I love it,” a third added.
Despite Pyle’s best efforts though, the handshake still slipped Lions forward Charlie Cameron’s mind.
He got the cap part right, but left a young girl hanging when she had her hand outstretched.
Fans on social media were quick to notice the blunder.
“How good is the Brisbane official reminding every player to ensure they shake the hand of the Auskick kid and put the hat on their head before running off … until Charlie Cameron gets on stage. One year a winning team will do it properly,” one fan said.
“Every year there’s always one player who doesn’t shake hands with Aussie kicker kid and it’s Charlie Cameron!” another said.
“Charlie Cameron c’mon mate. Shake the kid’s hand,” another said.
Jarrod Berry had no such issues, which made this young girl’s parents very happy.
“Shoutout to Jarrod Berry for remembering to shake my very nervous daughter’s hand at the grand final medal presentation!” Joseph Mamone said.
Cameron had a relatively quiet day by his standards.
He kicked one goal, but missed two sitters from directly in front.
However, he won’t care in the slightest after winning his first premiership medal.
