Make that three straight games with at least six runs scored for the Atlanta Braves.
It’s a streak that may turn out to be insignificant in the long run, but for an offense that has struggled mightily to produce consistent results over the last month-and-a-half, anything is better than nothing.
The Braves certainly weren’t in dire straits — at least, not based on the rest of the league — but for an organization with World Series aspirations, a losing record in the month of May simply wasn’t going to cut it. With a pitching staff that had been red-hot to start the year also starting to cool down, Atlanta needed the high-flying offense that lit up scoreboards in 2023 back in service.
While the Braves did lose their recent series against the Baltimore Orioles, hope was found in the series finale, a 6-3 victory where both pitching and offense finally complimented each other enough for the Braves to break a five-game losing streak.
With the win bringing their record to 36-30 — not a horrible mark, but below the standards expected by many in the Braves organization — taking the “one game at a time” approach seemed to be the best bet for a team in need of a factory reset with the summer heating up. With the Tampa Bay Rays coming to town for a three-game weekend set, the Braves have continued their mini hot streak, putting up seven and nine runs, respectively, in the first two games of the series.
