A 35-year-old Brampton man faces charges after federal authorities intercepted a truckload of narcotics on its way through a Niagara-on-the-Lake border crossing.

The RCMP thwarted the alleged drug run on Sept. 26, the Canada Border Services Agency said in a news release on Wednesday.

The haul of cocaine was worth about $6.5 million, authorities said.
A commercial truck driver arrived at the primary inspection booth at the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge entry and the driver and vehicle were referred for secondary examination.

That’s when border services officers found 202 brick-shaped objects, which tested positive for suspected cocaine with a total weight of 233 kg.
On Dec. 19, authorities charged Sukhwinder Dhanju with offences related to drug importation and trafficking.
Dhanju was released from custody with “strict conditions,” according to the RCMP.

Federal police collaborated with border services to make the arrest and “significant seizure of narcotics,” wrote border services district director Jeff Walters in the release.
Also on Wednesday, the CBSA posted on X that its GTA officers recovered 39 stolen vehicles over the last weekend.
