Boden’s autumn collection has arrived and cosy gilets are having a big moment from fans who are looking for something to keep them toasty in chilly night outs.
The Borg Button Gilet with natural faux fur has caught the eye of fashion fans, the natural ecru and the tan-coloured trim with tortoise shell buttons are soft to touch and easy to match with different styles.
Boden describes the outerwear on the website: “Snuggly and stylish in equal measure, this plush borg gilet is just the thing for slip on for those in-betweeny days for an extra layer of warmth.” It’s currently priced at £110 but customers can use code ‘B2G5’ and get 15% off, so it will be £93.50.
It’s proved a popular piece and sizes are running out of stock since it was launched online, but shoppers can still buy the gilet between size 12 and 22.
The girlfriend of Peter Philips, the late Queen’s grandson, was spotted wearing the exact gilet at the Defender Burghley Horse Trials at Burghley House, Peterborough last week. She matched it with a pink Boho dress and an Aspinal of London ‘Lottie’ handbag in shade Oatmeal Canvas.
One fan said: “I like the vest but not with the dress.” A second asked: “This is a good example of transitional dressing – I love that she wore a summer dress with a warm, fuzzy vest and the bag is very cute as well. To me it’s a win.”
The gilet looks good with a simple white blouse underneath or a thin turtleneck. With the length finishes at low hip, it keeps the wind and cold out and traps the heat to keep you warm.
Many more asked about the shopping link of the gilet and added: “I need to get it, where can I buy it?”
Other than Boden, The White Company also has a Borg Gilet available in either biscuit and ivory colour. The £79 piece features snap buttons and a high neck, perfect to layer over hoodies, plus it’s slightly cheaper than Boden’s high price. Crew Clothing’s Borg Gilet version, £69, features a standup collar and faux suede inner for extra warmth.
