The post was accompanied by three photos, the first showing Dave pulling his boots on in a hotel room and another presenting in front of a crowd.
“Every day, we need to create rituals to be our best self, like getting up before your alarm, appreciating that you have a whole day ahead and you didn’t die in your sleep, making the bed,” he began.
“Even if you stayed in a hotel, having a shower where you appreciate you have running water you can even drink, getting excited when you get your socks on the correct feet, wearing the best boots you can afford, to know they will keep you grounded throughout the day.”
Dave then shared other small things people can do in the morning to help them feel the best version of themselves.
“Check that you look like you want to be seen…. and say kind words to yourself, like, ’You know what you are doing’, ‘You’ve got this’,” he said.
“After all, you need to hear kind things straight up … it gives permission to people for the rest of the day to follow suit.
“My rituals help me every morning – Wake Up, Get Up, Step Up and Step Out into the world that often punches me in the face.”
Dave says his rituals provide him with “emotional amour to get back up and be kind and keep going, and enjoy every experience in front of me”.
He went on to thank the non-profit organisation Grain Growers who provided him with the opportunity to share his story.
“Thank you to the amazing and inspiring mob at @graingrowers who provide a brave space, like me at @rufftrack, for young people to jump in, be vulnerable and lead,” he said.
Aside from his stints on Big Brother, Dave is a dog trainer and youth worker for his program, RuffTrack, which aims to “keep kids alive, out of prison and skilled up for a secure future”.
As part of the program, the young participants are given a dog to bond with and must learn responsibility, caring and communicating for their pet.
Followers of Dave took to the comments to share their gratitude for his inspiring post.
“Thanks Dave. Means a lot reading this post,” one wrote.
“Love this 😍thank you for your inspiration 🙌 Just what I needed to hear today,” added another.
A follower responded, “Couldn’t agree more Dave. You have such a way with words. Truth, honesty, love, compassion and kindness, care and all heart and soul you are”.
The message comes after Dave admitted he had made some changes to his work-life balance, realising he was “halfway through this thing called life”.
“So I work hard and rest well, after an eventful day catching a rogue alpaca who was menacing the local neighbourhood and releasing him on our place near our mob of alpacas and sheep,” he said on May 3.
“Checked in with all the kids and helped with a bit of rubbish clean up.
“I’ve zoomed up the Blue Mountains for a midweek getaway with my beautiful bloke who is finally back from two months away.”
Graham’s “beautiful bloke” is his partner Shazli, to whom he became engaged earlier this year.
On January 5, Farmer Dave announced that he and Shazli, his partner since 2021, were engaged.
“After a lifetime of looking, I am absolutely and completely in love with the kindest, calmest, most decent hard-working bloke who balances me perfectly,” he shared.
“I was the guy who was told a thousand times when you least expect it, it will happen … and it did!”
In an interview with Woman’s Day, Dave explained he met Shazli in a pub and the attraction was instant.
“I thought I had hit the jackpot,” he said.
“He was so polite and well mannered, not to mention good looking!”
Dave also revealed he was the one to ask Shazli to marry him.
“I asked him, ‘Would you join me and journey together through the rest of our lives and marry me?’ He looked at me tearfully and I knew it was a yes!” he said.
