Best winter activewear: Nike unveils stylish winter activewear collection to help keep you fit while it’s cold

Picture the scene.

It’s 5.30am, your alarm has just gone off, but it’s cold and dark outside, and it’s suddenly much more tempting to lie in bed for an extra 50 minutes rather than get up and go out for a run before work.

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone.

But what if you had some new and stylish activewear to help motivate you to get training while it’s cold?

Let me point you in the direction of Nike.

The iconic sports brand has this month unveiled its stylish winter wellness collection, complete with cosy outer layers, leggings and trainers — and it’s been all I needed to help give me the push to get out of bed and keep training.

In the sweatshirts category, there is plenty to get excited about.

Highlights include the wear-everywhere Nike Sportswear Phoenix Fleece ($90), which comes in a variety of colours including purple, grey, khaki, blue and white.

I’m also loving logo anything at the moment, so this Nike Sportswear Quarter Zip ($100) is speaking to me.

When it comes to shoes, whether you’re a runner, gym girl or Pilates fan, there is something for everyone.

The famous Alphafly 3s ($390) — which have been notoriously hard to get a hold of since they launched earlier this year — are finally available in a number of sizes and a limited-edition colourway.

Fine-tuned for marathon speed, these are the shoes that countless Olympians swear by to hit their PBs.

Feted runner Kelvin Kiptum wore the Alphafly 3s to run 2:00:35 in Chicago late 2023, and many of the world’s most elite runners regularly turn to both Nike’s range of Alphaflys and Vaporflys when they need to run their personal bests.

Elsewhere, I love the Nike Pegasus Trail 5s ($200) for weekend exploring and the Nike Zoom Vomero 5s ($250) have barely left my feet since I tried them on.

Perfect for running and casual wear, I find myself slipping them on, whether I’m heading out for a walk and brunch or going for a job.

When it comes to staying motivated over winter, Nike have a series of workouts available on the Nike Training Club app with some of their core talent.

These include a deep-core Pilates session with trainer to the stars Kirsty Godso and yoga morning sun salutations with Maria Wada.

Devotees of the app can also find an easy 20-minute run with Coach Bennett, as well as a 25-minute Well-Being Flow with Xochilt.
