Forget doing battle with multiple pieces of kit to mop and vacuum your home.
On July 27, Dyson launched an all-in-one device to clean your home from top to bottom and replace both your vacuum and your mop – for a “next level clean”.
The Dyson V15 Detect Submarine (from $1,549) is the British’s tech giant’s first all-in-one wet-and-dry cordless vacuum cleaner.

Precision engineered to deliver the right amount of water to effectively remove spills, tough stains and small dry debris such as food crumbs, the V15 Detect Submarine is the first of its kind for Dyson.
The new wet roller head – which is only compatible with Dyson V15s – has been designed to clean tile, stone, wood, ceramic, vinyl, linoleum and laminate floors.
This means that if you’re like many Aussies in having hardwood floors, this may be the ultimate solution.
So what sets the Dyson V15 Detect Submarine apart from other wet and dry products on the market and why does it have a $1,549 price tag?
First up, as always with Dyson, it’s about the engineering.
In a press conference held ahead of the V15 Detect Submarine’s launch, Dyson engineers said they needed to tackle the issue of a “next level clean floor finish” without over-saturating the material underfoot.
To do this, the talented team designed an eight-point hydration system, which uses a pressurised chamber for even water distribution and “optimal saturation across the full width of the roller”.
In addition, the engineers harnessed the power of eight water jets, which were then evenly spaced along the roller to release precisely 1ml of water every single minute to wash the floors without leaving them wet and slippery.
Finally, the team had to make sure the roller wouldn’t merely push dirty water around the floor.
They did this by using a plate that extracts contaminated water from the wet roller and deposits it into a separate waste water tray.
“Existing wet cleaning formats are commonly met with owner frustrations; largely around manoeuvreability, maintenance and pick-up performance,” said , Charlie Park, the Vice President of Floorcare R&D at Dyson.
“Our solution solves these challenges and provides users with a multi-functional, compact yet powerful vacuum that takes deep cleaning to the next level.
“The launch of our first all-in-one wet-and-dry machine is an important step in Dyson’s commitment to improve everyday lives, and create cleaner, healthier homes.”
Alongside the new wet floor cleaning function, buyers of the Dyson V15 Detect Submarine will also get all of the existing features of the vacuum, like the optic light which illuminates hidden dust in your home.
But the new wet roller head is not compatible with any other Dyson model.
