Bella Hadid has spent the past 12 months participating in “cutting” competitions: a traditional equestrian sport wherein a rider and horse demonstrate their ability to handle herds of cattle before a panel of judges. I imagine Hadid will be putting that experience into good practice at Paris Fashion Week while navigating the backstage mobs at her–for now rumored–return to the catwalk.
The model was yesterday afternoon photographed leaving Hippy Market–a vintage shop on Rue Rambuteau–in an imposing Saint Laurent bomber crafted from aged lambskin with the brand’s soon-to-be-released Y tote bag. Here is someone who still believes in a good coat: one that can withstand both the elements and the passage of time–and indeed function as a complete outfit when the months turn cold. But even despite the direct line Hadid seems to have established to Anthony Vaccarello, the model still lurks on Depop. (Her second-hand knee-highs were reportedly purchased from the @juicylovesyou storefront.) This high-low approach to dressing has been Hadid’s thing for a while. Take–for example–the biker jacket and miniskirt set she’s wearing under that bomber, which are not the work of a vaunted fashion house, but the Canadian influencer Ruby Lyn’s collaboration with an Australian brand called With Jeán.
