Having returned as Batman after three decades in last year’s The Flash, Michael Keaton is returning to the big screen as another of his iconic 1980s Tim Burton characters.
The 72-year-old reprises Beetlejuice in Beetlejuice 2 aka Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
And given the ghost is summoned by saying his name three times we reckon Warner Bros are hoping for a third film called (you guessed it) Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, if the legacy sequel is a hit.
Also reprising their roles from the original are Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara, while the director’s Wednesday star Jenna Ortega also joins the cast
As does Burner’s partner Monica Bellucci, Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux and Burn Gorman.
The official synopsis reads: “Beetlejuice is back! After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.”
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice hits cinemas on September 6, 2024.
