The bi-fuel motorcycles, priced at a premium, will challenge Hero MotoCorp’s dominance. Bajaj aims to capitalize on the mileage-conscious entry-level segment, where it currently holds an 8% share.

Bajaj will launch the bike under a completely new brand. The bi-fuel motorcycles – that can run both on CNG and petrol – will be priced at a premium compared to the petrol ones in the entry level (125cc and below) of the market where buyers’ sensitivity to fuel price hikes is higher, Rakesh Sharma, executive director at Bajaj Auto, said earlier.

Specific information about the motorcycle is still undisclosed, but it has been seen undergoing testing several times in the recent months. The recently seen test mule appeared to be a standard commuter motorcycle with halogen turn signals, telescopic front forks, and a monoshock for suspension.Other significant features consist of alloy wheels with multiple spokes, a lengthy single-piece seat, and a combination of disc and drum braking system. Based on its appearance, it is expected to focus on the budget range for entry-level segments.The company recently submitted trademark applications for names like Glider, Marathon, Trekker, and Freedom between January 29th and February 9th. It is possible that the upcoming model may have one of these names.

Details about the engine specifications have not been revealed yet. Bajaj might choose to alter an existing petrol engine or create a completely new powertrain for CNG usage. Performance numbers are anticipated to be revealed nearer to the launch date.
