Avengers Secret Wars, Doctor Doom and original X-Men star teased in Deadpool 3 | Films | Entertainment

The first Deadpool 3 trailer made its debut today during the Super Bowl, unveiling the movie’s true title as Deadpool and Wolverine.

Set after the events of Deadpool 2, Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson is pruned by the Time Variance Authority from Loki for all his meddling in the previous movie with Cable.

Now Disney has bought Fox, Deadpool can enter the MCU in what looks like the most meta way possible.

Promising to save the Marvel universe with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, the first teaser is full of Easter eggs and fans are getting extremely excited on social media.

One of the biggest teases was for 2027’s Endgame-level event movie, Avengers Secret Wars.

In one of the final shots of the trailer, Deadpool lies next to a copy of Jonathan Hickman’s Secret Wars no 5, featuring the faces of God-Doom and The Beyond on the cover. The previous is a version of Fantastic Four villain Doctor Doom and the latter is rumoured to be reimagined as a Kang variant in the MCU.

If that wasn’t enough some fans reckon they spotted Doctor Doom’s debut in the trailer but others aren’t as sure and wonder if he’s an alternate version or just another character.  Nevertheless, a serious deep cut was the return of an X-Men original movie trilogy star.

Aaron Stanford reprises Pyro, a mutant who can control fire, from the Noughties X-Men movies. He was played by Alexander Burton in the first movie before being recast with Stanford in X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand.

Now this is the kind of fan service Marvel fans appreciate and we’re sure this is just the beginning.

Deadpool and Wolverine hits UK cinemas on July 25, 2024.
