An Australian underground miner has revealed how he secured the job that earns him a whopping $200,000 per year — with no prior experience.
The Aussie man spoke to job search company Get Ahead App in an interview on the streets of Melbourne where he shared the importance of connections in mining.
“Didn’t really have any idea I was going to get into underground mining,” he said in the video posted to TikTok.

“Got asked at a barbecue of a mate’s dad who was a foreman in the mines.”
The man’s advice to viewers who want to get into the field was to keep persevering.
“Just keep trying,” he said.
“It’s one of those industries where it’s not what you know it’s who you know.”
Job search website Jooble claims the average salary for underground mining jobs in WA is $143,804, ranging from around $130,000 to $150,000.
Jooble ranks Hobart as the top paying Australian city for the role at an average salary of $226,928, followed by Victoria and then Perth.
